Most teachers go through the usual list of things to do before exams; to help you, and maybe them a little, I want to show you some examples of what I mean, the work which candidates will think is great but, sadly, an examiner will not.

In the following pages questions appear in Courier font, with the answers or comments in the main text font, Times Roman. (I have chosen the two fonts supported by all web browsers.)

These are not intended to be model answers. There are several ways in which many questions can be answered, with others there is only one (correct) way. They are intended to illustrate some possible pitfalls.
